Home Hardware in Carleton Place was originally known as Muirhead's Hardware in the early 1900s, and was located at 143 Bridge Street.
In 1932, the business was purchased by George W. Eades, who became a charter member of Home Hardware Stores Ltd. in 1964.
In 1994, Mr. Kirkpatrick moved Eades Home Hardware to it's current location at 80 Lansdowne Avenue and sold the operation to Randy and Lisa Slater in September of 1995.
In October of 2008, Lisa Slater passed the Home Hardware torch to Don Bernier and Scott Guyan.
Scott and Don both see great potential in the store and community and are excited to bring their combined expertise to the area. And they've got big plans, now that they're in town.
Their short-term plans include a complete store re-merchandising and re-decorating, which includes bringing the store up to the current Home Hardware Corporate Standards. They've already started the changes, but just wait until the Spring of 2009 when you will see a whole new Carleton Place Home Hardware, inside and out.
Don and Scott's long-term goals include continuing the growth of their product assortment with the needs of their customers at the top of the list, always.
Scott and Don will maintain the excellence that Home Hardware is known for in customer service. But don't be surprised at all when that customer service standard is raised even higher under their watch.
"Community involvement is of the utmost importance when we fly our Home Hardware banner. We are actively involved in the Carleton Place Business Improvement Association (BIA) as well as the Carleton Place Chamber of Commerce. We are excited to be a part of downtown beautification and improvement projects.
But more importantly, we can't wait to meet every one of our customers. Come on down and say hello - and don't forget that help is always close to home." -Scott Guyan and Don Bernier
